June – Pride Month

Standing with Pride: Celebrating and Supporting the LGBTQ+ Community

Every June, people across the UK and around the world celebrate Pride Month. It’s a time to honour the LGBTQ+ community — a time for love, equality, and visibility. But Pride isn’t just about parades and rainbow flags. It’s also about recognising the challenges many LGBTQ+ people still face and finding ways to support mental health, safety, and belonging for all.

As a counselling practice, we stand with Pride — and with anyone who wants to feel safe, heard, and accepted just as they are.

What Pride Month Is All About

  • A celebration of identity and diversity
  • A moment to raise awareness about discrimination and mental health challenges
  • A space for LGBTQ+ voices to be seen and heard
  • A reminder that love is love, and everyone deserves to be respected

Why Pride Matters for Mental Health

Unfortunately, many LGBTQ+ people still face rejection, bullying, or invisibility. These experiences can lead to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or trauma.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Pride is also about creating safe spaces, building community, and promoting mental wellbeing.
Here’s how we can all help:

  • Listen with empathy and without judgment
  • Use inclusive language and ask for pronouns
  • Challenge homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia when we see it
  • Support LGBTQ+ mental health services
  • Be a visible ally – not just in June, but all year round

You Are Welcome Here

At Magnolia Shores Counselling and Supervision, we offer a warm, inclusive, and affirming space for everyone — no matter your gender identity or who you love. We understand how important it is to feel accepted and supported, especially when exploring personal identity or navigating life’s challenges.

Whether you’re LGBTQ+ or questioning, or a parent or ally wanting to understand more — we’re here for you.
